Entry 005: Proposal Progress

 Project Proposal Draft 1

Project Proposal Draft 1

I feel as though after our session with Dr. Katherine Townsend on research methodologies, and the project proposal workshop, I've made some really great progress with my proposal!

I feel like I've got a clearer idea of how to move forward with my proposal and I feel like I know I need to focus more on my creating a really strong, clear concept.

Working Title:

"An investigation into the symbolism of adornment within culture, and the link throughout history between women and adornment."

New Visual Research:

I also wanted to add this visual into todays entry. This is an image I found by Illustrator and Chinese Contempory Artist Zhou Fan. I'm not exactly sure what this particular image is supposed to portray, but I love the whole aesthetic of it and I feel like its sort of telling a story. I love the colours, the integrated patterns and I think I was instinctively drawn to it because it reminded me of really over exaggerated Geisha Kanzashi hair pieces and ornaments and the way they are  layered up and some sort of cascade down onto the neck and shoulders. Artist Statement " This series of my paintings is based on dreams that I had as a child of many many jellyfish floating in the sky, some of which fell to the ground and became mushrooms. These dreams had a strong impact on me, and I remember them vividly. Somehow I feel that it is easier to focus on dreams than reality"
